My name is Sangeetha Shanbhogue, and I am honored to run for California’s State Assembly District 20. Alongside my husband, Ramnath, and our two daughters, I proudly call Dublin home. With a professional background in software development, analysis, and project management, I hold both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in my field. Despite a successful career, I made the deliberate choice in 2016 to prioritize my family and transitioned to become a devoted stay-at-home mom. As a first-generation immigrant, I came to America to pursue my dreams.

VISIONS & PRIORITIES

As a candidate for State Assembly, I am driven to create positive change within our district. My priorities are:

PRESERVING QUALITY EDUCATION

I will work tirelessly to preserve quality education where all students will be provided resources and support to excel in the field of their choice based on their individual aptitudes and talents.

DEFENDING PARENTAL RIGHTS

Parents have a right and duty to direct their children's education and upbringing. To solve the problem of a small percentage of abusive parents does not require the state to have authority over all parents.

MAINTAIN LAW & ORDER AND AMEND PROP 47

Crime is on the rise, and I will stand with law enforcement to ensure our communities remain safe. Open ended bills like Prop 47 that provide infinite chances to get away with offences that have been reclassified as misdemeanors need to be amended.

CREATING JOBS & GROWING OUR ECONOMY

I will promote free market economic policies while protecting the rights of employees, independent contractors and businesses. This will create a business-friendly climate to stimulate economic growth and create good-paying jobs for Californians.

ADDRESSING THE HOMELESSNESS CRISIS

California has spent $17 Billion dollars in the last 6 years and the problem has just gotten worse. I will support efforts to increase shelter capacity and advocate for policies that address the root causes of homelessness like substance abuse, mental illness etc. and call for accountability on spending and outcomes.

REPEALING ASSEMBLY BILL (AB) 5

I will push for repealing AB5 so that independent contractors in all fields have the freedom to be self-employed if they choose to do so. The government should not be able to force people to become employees and take away their right to independence and earning on their own terms.

LOWERING TAXES FOR AN AFFORDABLE LIFE

Californians face some of the nation’s highest taxes, impacting families, small businesses, and everyday citizens. I am committed to lowering taxes and making life more affordable for all residents.

END WASTEFUL SPENDING AND ENSURING FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY

Despite a $100 billion surplus in 2022, the California Legislative Analyst’s Office projects a $68 billion cumulative budget deficit through June 2025. It's time to elect leaders who prioritize fiscal responsibility over reckless spending.

HONORING AND CARING FOR OUR VETERANS

Our veterans deserve the best possible care. I will prioritize access to quality medical care, housing, employment, and education opportunities for our nation’s heroes without judgement or discrimination.
